Information for Track Novices:

We’re really looking forward to you joining us for your first session on a velodrome. I hope you’re excited, I’m sure you’ll love it!
Please meet at Derby Arena all ready to begin at the start time advertised. I’d recommend getting there at least 15 minutes beforehand to allow time to get ready.
If you need to hire a bike and shoes you will need to pay for this at the reception desk when you arrive. (If it’s the 7am session, sometimes their systems aren’t up and running when we get there so it can be done after.) Bike hire is £13.45 and shoe hire £6.20. If you have Look Keo cleats you can use your own cycling shoes.
Things to bring:
Helmet
Gloves – Fingerless mitts are best
Cycling clothing – shorts and a jersey are usually best as it can get quite warm. Although some people like to have long sleeves.
Drink and Snacks – there is a water fountain there.
If you’d like to use the changing facilities showers are available.
Cash – I’ll collect the money for the session at the end. The amount depends on how many people are attending. (Usually around £20.)
(Unfortunately, due to the club having to pay up front for the track sessions we do ask that if you drop out of attending the session within 48 hours that you still pay for your space. I do hope you understand.)
Once you’ve paid for bike hire on arrival go through to the arena and up some stairs to the left hand side of the infield. This will take you up to the ‘D’ where we will be based for the session. Bikes and shoes are up there. There are height charts to help you establish which bike size you need and each bike has an ID number on so you can keep track of which one is yours throughout the session. The coach will teach you the rest!
Have a great session!
